Bonus Pastor Foundation Newsletter - Oktober 2007

23 november 2007

Roemenië

“At the ISAAC Conference one of the delegates (a Nigerian doctor working in Tajikistan) taught us the slogan: “If God gives a vision, He also gives provision.” I consider this worthy to believe, also knowing and believing that panicking because of lack of money doesn’t glorify God.” (Kálmán Adorján)

Various
5-8 October: The Drug Therapy Centre staff participated in an exchange of experiences at Monoszló (Hungary) with colleagues from the Drug Therapy Centres in Ráckeresztúr and Zsibrik (both in Hungary).
11-16 October: A team composed of Christian students from Hungary came to Ozd for volunteer work. They did a great job in concreting a part of the winter harbour for the cows, and in clearing away the scrap.
19-21 October: The Aftercare Conference in Tg. Mureş.
Rudolf Urban will change his position to be the administrator at Ozd. He is moving to Ozd with his family.
15-23 October: Kálmán and Éva Adorján attended the ISAAC (International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition) conference in Dordrecht, Holland. After that they visited people in the Netherlands who are in contact with the Foundation.
We organised two events for students/young people (at Tîrgu Mureş and Cluj) to make them aware of the Foundation for possible work (volunteer or employment) at Bonus Pastor and especially to facilitate finding a person for the position of fundraiser/PR coordinator, which is needed very much at the present time.
5-16 November: the last Treatment Camp this year, held in Ozd. More details about it will be provided in the next newsletter.
For the moment, humanly thinking, there is no perspective for salaries for the next months. We ask for your help in any possible way.

The Aftercare Conference in Târgu Mureş
Nearly 100 persons attended the Conference. The theme was “Security and Insecurity”. One of the participants, from Gheorgheni, told that for him it is very important to be present at every event organised by Bonus Pastor, because in his town there is no support group and he doesn’t know anybody with the same problem. So he has to travel to Miercurea Ciuc or Odorhei to keep in touch and to speak with others.

Drug Therapy Centre
“More and more clients are diagnosed with severe depression. I am faced with two problems: answering what addiction is, and that there is urgent need to act and tackle this side of the problem. For now a psychiatrist will come and see about the clients, and prescribe medication if needed.” (Gyula Bodó-Tóth)

Case Study
“AB is a former client in the Therapy Centre. He left Ozd about three months ago, without finishing his therapy. He came out with lots of debts, no work, quite bad relations with his family, and many questions about a former relationship. His evolution and progress in recovery is very nice. He got a job where the salary is not very high, but nobody drinks alcohol, and AB is allowed to leave early on Friday in order to attend the local support group. And he doesn’t miss any occasion. He is pleased with his life and he would be very ashamed in case he relapses.” (Éva Adorján)
